Thomas John Morris

Thomas John Morris, 72, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2024, at his longtime home in Warrenville, Illinois. Tom was born on May 4, 1952, in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Growing up he lived in Illinois including Waukegan, Lake Bluff and Wheaton.

A graduate of Wheaton North High School (1970), Tom received a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle (1979). Tom earned his Professional Engineer Certification (1983) in Illinois, followed with certification in several additional states throughout his career. Tom’s professional experience began working for his father John G. Morris at Morris Environmental Engineering before starting a long career as a geotechnical engineer at Testing Service Corporation in Carol Stream, Illinois. He progressed through multiple positions including Vice-President and then President of TSC before retiring in 2017.

Tom had a love for travel, actively pursuing snow skiing, boating, sailing, and biking. Winter months took him to the Rockies or Europe to ski with the Chicago Metropolitan Ski Council and summer months were spent on Episode to explore the Great Lakes and even the Caribbean. He and his wife Heide split their time between Warrenville Illinois and their condominium in St. Petersburg, Florida once Tom had retired. At their home in Warrenville Tom accumulated equipment to work on wood projects and used his carpenter skills to make beautiful pieces. He fixed things around the house mostly by himself. When He was not busy on a project Tom liked to read, historical fiction or mystery and adventure. Tom was known for his zest for life, love of family, helping others and having a wonderful wit and dry sense of humor that was enjoyed by all who knew him.

Surviving Tom are his wife Heide (Reimann); his siblings Patricia DuChene, Carol Copek, Cathy (Glen Doremire) Morris, Robert (Moira) Morris; and his numerous nieces/nephews Jonathan (Jacquie) Babb, Mike Babb, Lesley (Dave Loomer) Babb, Stephen Anne Marie) Copek, Robyn (Chris Seamans) Copek, Ian DuChene, Kathleen Morris, Erin Morris, Jack Morris; and great nephew and niece Benjamin Babb, Mila Babb.
