Thomas Franklyn Cherrington III
November 3, 1952 – November 14, 2025
Thomas Franklyn Cherrington III, 73, of West Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home on November 14, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on November 3, 1952, in Harvey, Illinois, Tom was a proud graduate of Crete-Monee High School, Class of 1970. He went on to build a long and successful career running his own home remodeling and construction business, known for his craftsmanship, integrity, and dedication to his clients and community.
Tom was a man of deep passion and curiosity. He was committed to his AA fellowship, where he found purpose, friendship, and the opportunity to support others on their journeys. A lifelong reader and history enthusiast—especially captivated by Civil War history—Tom also found peace in the outdoors. He loved spending time in his yard and garden, tending to the space around him with the same care he gave to the people in his life.
He is survived by his three sons, whom he cherished deeply: Adam (Shannon) Cherrington, Blake (Ashley) Cherrington, and Todd (Alayna) Cherrington; his loving partner, Hygeia Cabael (Cielo); his siblings, Leslie Cherrington, Mark Cherrington, and Peggy Michael; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Tom was the proud grandfather of Avery, Caiden, Dylan, Simone, and Nico Cherrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Irene Cherrington.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 20th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Arrowhead Golf Club in Wheaton, IL. All who knew and loved Tom are warmly invited to attend and share memories. Please RSVP to Todd at Tmcherr21@yahoo.com by 12/12.

He had a big heart, a deep kindness, and a generosity of time that he freely shared with anyone who needed a hand or a listening ear. His presence, humor, and spirit touched all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
