Phyllis Joanne Sedlacek, 87, a resident of West Chicago for 68 years passed away peacefully Thursday January 29, 2026 at: The Grove in St. Charles, IL. Phyllis was born on March 14, 1938 in Chicago, daughter of Andrew and Sophie Ostonko.

Phyllis worked as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Chicago and also worked at White Castle Restaurant. She was an Office Manager and Bookkeeper at J. D. Sedlacek Water, Sewer and Septic in West Chicago. Phyllis volunteered as an Election Judge, but being a homemaker, sister and a mother were her greatest joy.

Phyllis went to every rehearsal and sport’s activities at school that her children were involved in. She loved to sew costumes for her children and sew for the clubs they joined. She would volunteered for her children’s events and she loved to cook. Everyone enjoyed the food she made, she could figure out any recipe.

She is proceeded in death by her husband John Sedlacek; her parents Andrew and Sophie Ostonko; 8 sisters and brothers Mary; Anna; Helen; John; George; Katherine; Theresa; Joseph (Barbara Ostonko).

Phyllis is survived by many love ones, her sister Victoria Stankowicz of Lodi, WI; brother Harold (Marilyn) Ostonko of Huntingburg, IN, daughters Doris (Gregory) Crutchett; Vickie Johnsen; Lisa (James) Erwin; son John Jr.; and daughter Rachel Sedlacek. She had 10 Grandchildren Samantha (Robert) Zimmerman; Matthew Sims; Jason (Sarah) Schadeberg; Heather Simms and Ashley Schadeberg; James Jr. (Lisa) Erwin; Kyle Erwin; Eric (Anna) Erwin; Dakota McKee; Johnnie Sedlacek; and cocker spaniel Brianna Ellen Fraser Mackenzie and Rottweiler Dawgg; 14 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Fremont Street in West Chicago, Illinois, Rev. Michal Twaruzek of St. John’s in Winfield will be officiating.

After the Memorial Service lunch will be held at the American Legion 123 Main Street In West Chicago.
