Monika Eva Maria Martin , age 69, of West Chicago, passed away on February 11, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Regensburg, Germany on July 8, 1951 to Wendell and Anna Ternes. Monika immigrated to the United States in 1953. She was a graduate of Maine West High School. Monika was united in marriage on December 18, 1982 to Wayne Martin. She became a proud US citizen on April 15, 1997. She was a generous loving person, who helped everyone. Monika loved traveling, having traveled all around the world. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.

Monika is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wayne Martin; children, Laura Martin, Natalie (Daniel) Smith and Daniel (Chrissie) Martin; grandson, Bruce Wayne Smith; soon to be granddaughter, Ruby; grand dogs, Gizmo, Otis and Cash and relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Martha (Kenneth) Martin.

Memorial visitation for Monika will take place on Friday, February 19, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago. A memorial service will take place at 6:00 p.m. (Anyone attending the visitation is required to wear a facemask inside the funeral home as per state guidelines) .  Contributions in Monika’s memory may be made to www.cancer.org/involved/donate/memorial-giving.html .
