Mo Zarate

Modesto "Mo" Zarate, age 89, lifetime resident of West Chicago, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014. He was born on February 24, 1924 in Fullerton, LA to Jacob and Emeteria Zarate. He was drafted during WWII serving in the US Army and a life member of the VFW Post 6791 of West Chicago. Mo was united in marriage on May 1, 1954 to Marion Smith. He worked as a printer at West Chicago Printing Company where he retired after 40 years of service. Mo was a great sports fan and loved golf and his favorite team was the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
He is survived by his wife, Marion, of 59 years; children, Rebecca (Harry) Smith, Cary (Laura) Zarate and Penny Zarate; grandchildren, Matthew, Brittany and Michael; sisters, Jane Rodriguez and Catherine (late Robert) Rzeszotarski; brother Leon (late Arlene) Zarate.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Christine Zarate.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 3 to 8 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago. Prayers Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 9:30 am from the funeral home to St. Mary's Church, 164 N. Oakwood, West Chicago. Mass 10 am. Interment at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
