Mary Sanchez

Mary Sanchez (nee Gonzalez) , age 98, of West Chicago, passed away on November 19, 2020. She was born on June 2, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Anselmo and Angela Gonzalez. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Chicago, IL. Mary was united in marriage on December 27, 1947 to the late Nicholas R. Sanchez. She worked for many years as an Executive Legal Secretary for Sears Roebuck as well as Crane Company and Abbott Labs. Mary was involved in many Catholic church ministries by being a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher and was a member of the Red Hat Society and a cub scout leader as well. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, making photo albums, crocheting, gardening, and she loved her family dearly.

Mary is survived by her children, Lucina “Nina” Sanchez, Rosalie (late Juan) Motley-Sanchez, Anita Sanchez, Nicholas W. Sanchez, Robert S. Sanchez, Rita (John) Hercog and Richard (Barbara) Sanchez; grandchildren, Juan Herrejon, Michael Sherman, Phillip Herrejon, Alex Sanchez, Robert Sanchez, Lisa Hercog, Maria Motley-Arnold and Rosalinda Motley; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Nicholas and brother, Marcus Gonzalez.

A private family visitation will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary’s Church , 164 N. Oakwood Ave., West Chicago at 11:00 am.
