It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Maria Evangelina "Vita" Rios Lloyd. After a long battle with diabetes, vascular issues and breast cancer she passed surrounded by family on June 28th, 2024. She was 80 years old.
Maria, known to family and friends as Vita, was born on October 5, 1943, to Julia Guzman and Onésimo Rios Sr. in Pharr, TX where she grew up and lived the majority of her life.
In 1990 Maria started off the new year moving with her children to West Chicago. She was quite the entrepreneur. She opened Runners Coffee Shop at the West Chicago train station in the 1990s. She went on to open La Pulguita Resale Shop on Main St., then relocated to a building formerly known as Isaac's Upholstery Shop (now the Train Station parking lot) on Main St. She was also a resale merchant at The Montana Charlie’s Flea Market, aka El Gallito, in Bolingbrook, IL.
Maria loved going to resale shops, garage sales, and occasionally hosting her own garage sales in town. But most of all she loved spending time with family and making her famous tamales which everyone loved.
Maria is survived by her children Francisco Carrales (Alicia De Leon), Charles D Lloyd Jr., Sharon (Jorge) Lloyd-Guerrero, Michael A. Lloyd, her grandchildren Michael (Martha) Carrales, Gabriel (Vanessa) Carrales, Joshua I McPheron, Michael A Lloyd Jr.(Kyla), her great grandchildren Aaliyah A McPheron, Kloe Ersebet Joy Brackett, Kassius Leonard Richard Lloyd,
Her brother Eusebio Ríos (Alicia), sister in laws Emma (Onesimo) Rios, Aurora (Israel Sr.) Rios and so many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Maria was proceeded in death by her parents Onésimo Rios Sr, and Julia Guzman, her sisters Rosa (Felipe) Garcia, Criselda (Macario) Cabrera, and her brothers Israel Rios Sr., Onésimo Rios Jr., Able Sr. (Patricia) Rios.
Maria was our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, tia, prima, and/or friend. She will be greatly missed.
