Leslie “Les” Smith , age 73, longtime resident of West Chicago, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015. He was born on July 19, 1942 in Mahaska, KS to Byron and Gladys (Willcoxon) Smith. Les was united in marriage on January 19, 1963 to Leeina Lovellette. He was a retired butcher with over 38 years of service and worked for many years as a marshal with the West Chicago Police Department. He enjoyed the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and camping and loved his family dearly.
Les is survived by his wife of 53 years, Leeina; children, Richard (Brenda), Sherrie (Steve) and Shelly (Greg); grandchildren, Matt (Nicole), Chrystal, Ricky (Amber), Billy (Karli), John (Beky), Alexa (Chris), Michael, Joshua and Jordan; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Jenny); sisters, Sandy (Dave) and Debbie; and relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Harry and Mabel (Woods) Lovellette and grandson, Anthony.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 4 p.m. until time of funeral service beginning at 7:30 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago. Reverend Sue Ebersold officiating. Interment Private.
