John Somogyi

John F. Somogyi , age 91, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2019. He was born on June 29, 1928 in Chicago, IL to John and Therisia Somogyi. John was a graduate of South Shore High School in Chicago. He was a US Army Veteran serving at the end of WWII and traveled to Washington D.C. on Honor Flight in 2014. John was united in marriage on June 18, 1949 to Ruth Gilmore. He was active in the Lombard Little League, an Indian Guide’s Leader, and was a proud member of the 1969 Lombard Centennial Committee. John retired after many years of service from Atols Tool and Mold as a Tool and Die Maker. He enjoyed playing golf and took pride in his home improvement projects. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John is survived by his children, Pamela (Dominic) Pulice and Scott (Janet) Somogyi; granddaughters, Jessica (Michael) Phipps, Amanda (Tim) Barger, Sarah (Kevin) Fitzgerald, Ashlee (Ian) Wallace, and Mallory (Albert) Kon; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Ethan, Ashton, Tessa, Adam, Nathan, Preston, William, Sean, Josephine, Maggie and Tyler and great-grandchild due in February 2020.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth in 2018; parents, John and Therisia; and sister, Josephine.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 10 a.m. until time of services at 12:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services (one block north of Washington St. and Main), 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. A private burial will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery. A memorial luncheon will follow the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at the Courtyard Banquets , 3 South 200 Route 59, Warrenville, IL 60555.
