Guy R. Martino, a distinguished Chicago area sales management professional and beloved family man, passed away on April 24, 2026. Born on July 16, 1950, Guy’s life was marked by remarkable achievements in his career, heartfelt devotion to his family, and a zest for life that touched everyone who knew him.
Guy was the loving husband of Debra (nee Cote'), the beloved son of the late Josephine and the late Frank Martino and a dear brother to Kathi Maraffino and Marilyn Martino. Son-in-law of the late James Cote' Sr. and Violet Cote'. He was a cherished uncle to Jim III and Eric Cote’. His life was further enriched by numerous cousins and friends who feel privileged to have known such a warm and memorable soul.
Guy’s professional journey was noteworthy, defined by success and recognition in the sales management arena. He was highly regarded in the industry, earning numerous awards and acknowledgments throughout his career. His expertise extended beyond sales leadership to active participation in several prestigious organizations. Notably, he served as a board member and officer of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (A.I.T.P.), was a member of the Illinois Technology Association, a board member of the Business and Residential Property Association (BRPA), an active member of AFCOM, and part of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. His influence and insight reached wide audiences through his contributions to various publications. He authored a recurring monthly column on emerging technologies for a trade magazine, was featured on the cover of "Printing Impressions" magazine alongside his sales team, and penned articles on biometric security technology for "The Gong," the magazine of the Illinois Fire Chief's Association. Additionally, Guy shared his passion for the Portuguese Water Dog breed with articles in "The Mariner" and the PWDCA magazine "The Courier," revealing a multifaceted intellect and diverse interests.
Guy’s educational foundation was rooted in his time at Brother Rice High School and the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, institutions that helped shape the disciplined and knowledgeable professional he became.

Guy also cherished dining out experiences paired with a good glass of wine, moments that reflected his appreciation for life's finer things.
A remarkable trait of Guy’s was his extraordinary memory, often cited as “uncanny” in recalling details from years past, making him the go-to person for friends and family who needed a reliable sense of history or trivia at a moment’s notice.
Guy’s legacy is one of professional excellence combined with genuine kindness and personal warmth. He will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to cross his path.
