Gary Dale McClurg

Gary Dale McClurg, age 74, of Elburn, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. He was born on December 17, 1947, in Weirton, West Virginia to Dale and Verna (Wilson) McClurg. Gary attended Western Reserves in Ohio and obtained his bachelor’s degree from Aurora University. He later went on to get his master’s degree at Northern Illinois. However, Ohio State University and the Buckeyes would forever hold a special place in his heart. Gary was united in marriage to Rose Maria Loyd in 1976. He was a teacher in West Chicago for 34 years, a career he fulfilled passionately. He loved sports and could be found courtside at a school basketball game or, more often, at a baseball field. He coached baseball/softball teams for all three of his kids, and when not coaching, he could be found along the right field fence line for every game.  He loved his family and was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.

Gary is survived by his daughter, Brandi (Edward) Brookhouse; son, Christopher (Jenna) McClurg; daughter, Bryanne (Kyle) Kendziora; grandchildren, Noah, Jane, Sarah McClurg, and Riley, Charlie, CJ Kendziora; sisters, Cindy (Brian) Robinson, Wendy (Dan) Kandel; nieces, Heather and Kelly; nephews, Jason and Corey, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main St.) Service at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
