Ernest G. Siefert Sr., age 78, US Army Korean War Veteran, of West Chicago, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Ernie was a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandpa and adoring "great Pa-Pa". Ernie Sr. was president of Siefert and Sons who built many custom homes throughout the area. He was more than a home builder; he was a well respected, hard working, honest and caring man. Ernie always had everyone's best interest at heart and always put everyone before him. He devoted his time to his family and his homeowners who became his extended family.
Ernie is survived by 6 children; Karen (Morris) DeReadt of Winfield, Debra of Florida, Barb (Steve) Magill of Fort Collins, CO, Ernie (Donna) Siefert of Winfield, Gary (Sherri) Siefert of West Chicago, Jerry (Geri) Siefert of West Chicago; 10 grandchildren; Bob DeReadt, Toby (Becca) Siefert, Jamon (Jessica) Siefert, Lisa (Jordan) Mullen, Samantha, Kelly, Andrea, Joshua, and Zak Siefert; two great-grandchildren; Makenna and Mason Mullen; siblings; Joseph (Shirley) Siefert, Lydia Eads (Frank) and Barbara (Vernon) Hartford; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Elaine of 57 years in June 2011; parents; and grandson Timothy DeReadt.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 3 to 8 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Faith Community Church, 910 Main St., West Chicago. Pastor Shane Sterk officiating.
