Dolores J. Lellios

Dolores (Dee) Lellios (nee Schofield), age 88, of Winfield, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023. She was born on October 2, 1934, along with her twin sister, in Chicago, IL, to Robert and Winifred Schofield. Dee grew up in Lombard and graduated from Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn. She met her husband Anastasios “Michael” Lellios while in high school and they married on May 2, 1952. Dolores and Michael’s love story was truly inspiring and spanned 70 happy years.

Dee was a committed wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, aunt, and friend who enjoyed cooking, shopping, and entertaining. She devoted her life to her family, leaving her position with the Northwestern Railroad in Chicago when her first child, Randy was born in 1956. Dee was an incredible mother and homemaker. It was nothing for her to host a New Year’s Eve party and then turn around to host a New Year’s Day celebration the very next afternoon. She took pride in always looking her best and appreciated a good shopping deal. Dee was very handy and always ensured the house was in top shape, she even installed a brick patio herself. Dee had an abundance of energy and projects to prove it.

Dee’s warm heart and commitment to her family was evident throughout her entire life even as her children grew older. She helped her sister-in-law with her restaurant and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business. She also was the primarily caretaker of her Father-in-Law early in her marriage, and then both of her parents in their later years.

At age 60, Dee had the good fortune of winning a jackpot in Las Vegas, allowing her to spend the next 20 years creating wonderful memories with her family and travelling around the world with her husband. Dee loved to spoil her grandchildren and was grateful to help each of them pay for a portion of their college educations.

Dee survived a stroke almost 5 years ago and was able to remain in her home with the help of her family. Always a tenacious worker, Dee gave rehab her all and remained happy and focused on making the best of her life until the end.

Dee is survived by her son, Randy (Karen) Lellios; daughter, Pamela (late Jerry) Taylor; grandchildren, Alexis, Paige, Bryce, and Drake; twin sister, Lori (late Jim) Nauert; sister-in-law, Sofia Lellios; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years Anastasios “Michael” in 2022 and sister, Shirley (Late Bill) Schoenke.
