Dixie Handley

Dixie Lee Handley , age 75, of West Chicago, passed away on January 20, 2020. She was born in Holstein, IA on June 11, 1944 to Elwayne and Aida Peterson. Dixie was united in marriage on October 14, 1967 to John Handley in Ellsworth Iowa. She worked for many years at the Jewel/Osco in West Chicago and the West Chicago School District 33. Dixie had a great love for Elvis Presley and his music that she passed along to her children. Being a very social person, Dixie loved hosting parties where she served homemade foods and delicious desserts. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly. As we sadly mourn the loss of this amazing woman, we see Dixie walking through the pearly gates being serenaded by Elvis into the waiting arms of her parents and sister.

Dixie is survived by her husband, John, of 52 years; children, William “Joe” Handley and Nicole (Edgar) Hernandez; granddaughter Noelle; sisters, Barbara (Bear) Limberg, Marilyn (Lloyd) Martin and Kathy (late Jerry) Vincent; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol.
