David F. Maas

David F. Maas, age 80, of St. Charles, US Army Vietnam Veteran, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026. He was born on November 15, 1945 in Elmhurst, IL to Tony and Rose Mary (Beierlotzer) Maas. Dave attended St. Mary’s grade school in West Chicago and West Chicago Community High School class of 1963. He proudly served in the US Army in Vietnam from 1965 to 1967 with the 134th Quartermaster Company. Dave was united in marriage on June 20, 1970 to Sharon Berkes. He worked for Illinois Bell/Ameritech where he retired and then worked at Pottawatomie Golf Course for 10 years. Dave was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 300 and VFW Post 6791 both of West Chicago. He loved golfing, bowling, golfing, traveling and golfing.

Dave is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharon Maas; brothers, Ken (Kathy) Maas, Steve Maas and Paul Maas (Carol Roth); sister-in law; Donna Sable (late Garry Nelson); brother-in-law, Mike Ketcham; nephews, Jason (Mary) McRell, Michael (Jordan) Ketcham; great niece and great-nephews, Ryann, Hayden and Tanner McRell and Pierce Ketcham; relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joan Ketcham; In-laws, Don and Margaret Berkes.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services (one block north of Washington St. and Main), 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. Visitation will resume on Friday, September 25, 2026 at 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2900 E. Main Street, St. Charles where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery in West Chicago.
