In Loving Memory of Daevin Gregory “D” Wlodek

July 31, 1997 – July 18, 2026

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Daevin Gregory “D” Wlodek, who left this world on July 18, 2026, at the age of 28, just short of his 29th birthday. He lived with a big heart, an adventurous spirit, and a laugh that could fill a room. His time here was far too short, but the memories he created will last a lifetime.

Daevin was many things to many people: a devoted father, a cherished son, a loving brother, grandson, nephew, and cousin. Above all, he was the kind of friend you could always count on, someone whose presence brought comfort, laughter, and unwavering support. His eyes and spirit would light up any room, giving so many others hope and comfort. When you were around Daevin, you knew you weren’t alone.

Daevin was also a veteran, proudly serving his country in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army. He carried courage, determination, and a deep sense of loyalty, always striving to be part of something bigger than himself.

Of all the titles he held, none meant more to him than Dad. Becoming a father to his precious son, Kaiden Adam Lara-Wlodek, on September 10, 2025, was one of the greatest joys of his life. Though their time together was far too brief, Daevin’s love for his son was immeasurable. Kaiden will forever carry his father’s strength, laughter, love, and smile in his heart.

Daevin made the most of every moment and pursued life with passion and purpose. He was living proof that life was meant to be fully embraced, never spent standing still. If music was playing, Daevin was jamming. Music was more than something he enjoyed; it was his love language, constantly sharing it with those around him. Whenever a skatepark was nearby, Daevin could often be found there, embracing the freedom, solace, and sense of belonging he found on his skateboard. He would often say, “Skating is my therapy.” For Daevin, skating was far more than a hobby; it was a source of freedom, purpose, and inspiration. He dreamed of building a career around his passion, whether as a skateboarder or by designing gear and apparel that reflected and supported the skating community he loved so deeply.

He also loved adventure, making people laugh, and turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories. His smile was contagious, his sense of humor unforgettable, and he had a way of making everyone around him feel like family. Whether he was joking with friends, sharing stories, or simply being present with the people he loved, Daevin made every moment count.

Daevin now joins his beloved mother, Kellie Ann Wlodek, in Heaven, a reunion that was surely met with rejoicing by both Heaven and earth.

Daevin leaves behind his beloved son, Kaiden Adam Lara-Wlodek; his father, George Wlodek; his sister, Emmalynn Wlodek; and his wife, Shawnie White. While Daevin and Shawnie’s journey together changed over the years, their bond never lost its meaning. They continued to support one another with love, encouragement, and a connection, which was rooted in friendship and respect. That enduring bond was a testament to the love they shared.

Daevin was the first-born grandchild on both sides. Survived by his paternal grandmother, Anna Wlodek, and was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Wojciech Wlodek. He will be forever loved by his aunts and uncles, Alexandra (Michael) Wyruchowski, Matthew Wlodek, Kasia (Robert) Polep, and Kristen (Sean Collins) Wlodek, along with his cousins Jason, Desiree, Josie, Conner, Taylor, Dylan, and Lucy. On his maternal side, Daevin was the grandson of Timothy (Debbie) Lamb and Debra Wadkins (Gillespie), who loved him beyond measure and treasured every moment they shared. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles Jillian Lamb, Erin (Guy) Haines, Sarah (Tom) Tukeindorf, Eric (Sam) Lamb, and Adam Lamb, along with his cousins Caleb, Chloe, Colton, Bailee, Oliver, Piper, Lily, Elliot, Logan, Emmett and Theo.

Daevin taught us that life isn’t measured by the number of years we live, but by the love we give, the laughter we share, and the lives we touch. He packed more joy, adventure, kindness, and love into 28 years than many do in a lifetime.

While we will miss hearing his laugh, seeing that unmistakable smile, and sharing one more story with him, we know that the love he gave doesn’t end here. It lives on in every memory, every smile he inspired, and most of all in his son, who will forever be a part of him.

Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our “D.”

A Celebration of Life honoring Daevin will be held on Friday, July 31, on what would have been his 29th birthday, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Creative Arts Center in Romeoville, Illinois. Family and friends are welcome to gather in remembrance, reflection, and celebration of his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help honor his life.
