Charles Schramer

Charles P. Schramer , age 97, lifetime resident of West Chicago, passed away on May 30, 2018. He was born on April 28, 1921 in West Chicago, IL to Frank and Martha (Fessler) Schramer. He was a 2nd Lieutenant C-47 Pilot in the US Army Air Corp during WWII receiving the European Theatre Medal. Chuck was united in marriage on May 10, 1958 to Shirley Annis. He was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s United Church of Christ in West Chicago and sang in the choir for many years. Chuck was a member of the West Chicago VFW Post 6791 serving a term as Commander and many years as Quartermaster. He was a member of the West Chicago Historical Society, Garden Club and sang in the Silvertones Chorus in Wheaton.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Shirley, married 60 years on May 10; children, Stacy (Scott) Trumbull and Kevin (Mary) Schramer; grandchildren, Benjamin (Sarah) Trumbull, Jenna (Nathan) Johlas, Kurt and Spencer; great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Aliza; sister, Dee McCabe; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Don.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at St. Michael’s United Church of Christ , 400 W. Washington St, West Chicago at 2:00 PM. Family and friends may begin gathering a half hour prior to the memorial service. Reverend Sue Ebersold officiating. Light refreshments will be served at the VFW Post 6791, 431 N Neltnor Blvd, West Chicago, IL following the service. The family will greet you there.
