Alejandro Serna (Alex), age 88, of West Chicago, passed away on June 2, 2026. He was born in McAllen, Texas, on September 9, 1937, to Eduardo and Felipa Serna.
Alejandro (Alex) loved spending time with his family, especially his daughter, granddaughters, and friends. He was an amazing, sweet, caring, and devoted husband, dad, and grandpa. A hardworking man, he always put his family first and took great pride in caring for them. He enjoyed dancing, music, dining out, traveling, and socializing.
Alejandro lived in West Chicago for over 60 years, where he was well known and respected throughout the community. Alejandro is survived by his loving daughter, Martha Elena (Arturo) Navejas; cherished granddaughters, Bianca, Gabriela, and Giselle; nieces, Marisa, Alma, and Ana; grand puppy, Milo; brother, Carlos; and many relatives and friends across the United States and Mexico.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Josefina-Pepa, his parents, and four siblings and grand puppy Beau.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 8, 2026 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont Street (One block north of Washington St. & Main St.) Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at St. Mary's Church, 164 N. Oakwood Ave., West Chicago, IL at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
Alejandro Serna (Alex), 88 años, de West Chicago, fallecido el 2 de Junio de 2026. Nació en McAllen, Texas, el 9 de septiembre de 1937, hijo de Eduardo y Felipa Serna.
Alejandro (Alex) disfrutaba pasar tiempo con su familia, especialmente con su hija, sus nietas y sus amigos. Fue un esposo, papá y abuelo increíble, dulce, cariñoso y dedicado. Hombre trabajador, siempre puso a su familia primero y se sintió orgulloso de cuidar de ellos. Disfrutaba bailar, la música, salir a restaurantes, viajar y convivir con los demás. Alejandro vivió en West Chicago por más de 60 años, donde fue muy conocido y respetado en la comunidad.
Alejandro deja a su querida hija, Martha Elena (Arturo) Navejas; a sus adoradas nietas, Bianca, Gabriela y Giselle; a sus sobrinas, Marisa, Alma y Ana; a su perrito consentido, Milo; a su hermano, Carlos; así como a muchos familiares y amigos en los Estados Unidos y México.
