Alan E. Dieter , age 76, lifetime resident of West Chicago, passed away suddenly on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at his summer home in Rhinelander, WI.
He was born on January 2, 1938 to Edwin and Clara Dieter in West Chicago and was the first baby born in DuPage County in 1938. Alan was united in marriage to Sue Dieter on January 17, 1959. He was a retired letter carrier for the US postal service and presently worked for CDH Health Labs. Alan was past president of the West Chicago High School Booster Club. He loved his cabin in Rhinelander, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alan is survived by his wife, Sue, of 55 years; son, Edwin (Laurie) Dieter of West Chicago; daughter, Alyson (Dave) Robbins of West Chicago; grandchildren, Kristin (Mark) Jeschke, Brett (Rachel) Dieter and Al Robbins; great-grandchildren, Jonas and Ingrid; sister, Dolores Ludwig, Shirley Wiesneth, Betty Ludwig, Patsy Meisenholder, Rita Klavon and Susan Kirkton; brothers, Raymond and Michael Dieter; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jean Assell.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2014 from 3 to 8 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago.
Prayers Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 9:30 am from the funeral home to St. Mary’s Church , 164 N. Oakwood, West Chicago.
Mass 10 am. Interment Private.
